Employed by Janssen Pharmaceutica (Beerse), subsequently as mathematical analyst in Cardiovascular Research (1962), head of Applied Mathematics (1967), head of Scientific Computer department (1969), head of Information Science department (1973) and vice-president of Center for Molecular Design (1995).

Established an early laboratory information system with on-line data acquisition and statistical analysis (1967), using an IBM-1800 process control computer. Installed a distributed laboratory computer system based on Digital Equipment PDP-11 minicomputers (1973).

Elaborated Spectral Map Analysis (1975), a statistical technique related to factor analysis for visualizing patterns and relationships from tabulated data. Designed Spectramap (TM, Coloritto BV) a computer program for data analysis that was marketed by his employer. Took part in founding Chemometrics (1983), a scientific discipline that applies mathematical methods and statistical techniques to chemical and biological problems.

Established under the guidance of the late Dr. Paul Janssen the Center for Molecular Design (CMD, Vosselaar, 1995-2005) where he has been involved in the design and early development of medicinal compounds for therapy and prevention of HIV / AIDS. One DAPY (diarylpyrimidine) compound has been approved and two others are in late stages of clinical development.

Named as inventor on 19 patents. Has over 200 scientific papers and three books in the fields of physiology, computing, information science, statistics and research management to his name. Appeared frequently as an invited speaker at international conferences, symposia and courses.

Able to speak or read Dutch, French, English, German, Spanish, Italian and Russian.
